There are several things 1AD could be used for, including the following:

• Advertising - after all, the name ad.com sold for $1.4 million.
• Useful information about 1ad - the 1st Armourmed Division.
• 1AD or 1 AD - otherwise know as, "Year One", the first year of the Christian calender.
• 1ad or "1-ad" - the supplement.
• A million other things pertaining to the acronym "ad".

I'm leaning toward using the site as a means to experiment with various text-based, online advertising mediums. For now though, this place-setter will have to suffice, while I monitor visitor statistics and have a think about it -:)

By the way, this page is best viewed through a Safari Browser, preferably on a screen with high resolution. It looks terrible on any other setup. It's the year 2010 and I think I can safely say that the text rendering philosophies employed by the Windows programmers are outdated and, quite frankly, embarrassing. I hear they'll be using Direct Write for IE9. About time. I hope it's an improvement.

Before my fellow Windows users disagree, have a look at this page on Safari (with the Quartz engine running), on a 17 inch screen with 1920x1200 resolution. If you have eyes, you'll see the difference. I've thrown this one-page wonder together from scatch in half an hour. Give me a bit more time and I'll see if I can improve things.
